The Friendly Beasts, a Christmas carol about the gifts a donkey, cow, sheep, camel, and dove gave to Baby Jesus, originated in 12th-century France, set to the melody of the Latin song, Orientis Partibus. The current English words were written by Robert Davis in the 1920s. Depending on voices, some of the verses are omitted from the song.
Peter, Paul and Mary were an American folk-singing trio whose nearly 50-year career began with 1960s folk music. The trio were Peter Yarrow, (Noel) Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. They had several hits including the children's song, Puff, The Magic Dragon. With Travers's death, Yarrow and Stookey began to perform seperately.
