It’s exciting as a writer to see a supporting character resonate with readers. Abigail Boudreaux made a brief but crucial appearance in the first book of the Lancaster Legacy series. After multiple suggestions that she get her own storyline, I knew I had to place her on center stage for the series finale, The Blacksmith’s Bride.

As a former bounty hunter, Abigail knows how to handle herself under pressure. In the initial book within the series, she demonstrated courage and loyalty by protecting another woman from a group of men who had come to commit murder. Now, in the final book, Abigail faces her own nemesis as a man from her past pursues her to exact vengeance.

In many ways, the villain’s pursuit mirrors the enemy believers face every day. As John 10:10 (NKJV) reminds us, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” The good news is found in the final sentence within the same verse when the Lord declares: “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

My heartfelt prayer as a writer is that readers will walk alongside Abigail on her journey—from a life on the run to a place of compassion and ultimately to a permanent home filled with healing, hope, and an abundant life.

A Fresh Life Upended...

Abigail left her bounty-hunting days behind when she married Henry Boudreaux, a local blacksmith. Now, she's a woman with three children and another on the way. While Henry is away selling his wares, a mudslide destroys their home and community.

She escapes with her children to another town, where she waits anxiously for her husband to join them.

As the Past Pursues...

An angry young man from her past sees her vulnerability as an opportunity to exact vengeance. Determined to protect her children, Abigail heads to Arkansas and the safety of her brother' s ranch.

Henry tracks Abigail, even as the villain is hot on her trail. Will Henry get there first? Will Abigail be forced to return to a gunslinger's life? Or, will forgiveness and faith pierce the heart of hatred and turn vengeance into virtue?
