(image for) 5 of 5 Stars5 of 5 Stars Just finished this fantastic book. I won Root Beer & Roadblocks in a contest. I've never read anything by Susan M. Baganz. I just found another author to add to my "favorite author" list. Absolutely loved this book. Page turner, it brought tears to my eyes and in several places I actually had tears running down my cheeks. When an author can touch me so strongly then its automatically a 5 star rating.

When I looked at the cover I wasn't sure how the book would be. After reading the book the cover is perfect. Johnny Marshall has cancer for the second time. His dreams as a musician has come through, more than he expected. He's part of a Christian band and success has become theirs.

Katie has returned to town to take care of her aging and ill parents. She's a nurse and just started working for Johnny's onocologist. The sparks are still there from their high school romance. She wonders if God has brought them together again for a reason. She wants to be there for him but she's the one that walked away. How does she reach out, make amends for the hurt she caused and the hurt she felt because he never contacted her after she walked off. She's a single mom and Johnny saves her 6 year old son's life. Not once but twice. I won't say anymore about the plot. There is so much in this book to touch your heart.

I think this book helped me in a small way too. I lost my daughter-in-law to cancer. I saw what she went through and it helped me to see into Johnny's character and what he was going through. There is so much heartache and healing in this book. I dare you to read this and not be touched in some way. There is faith, romance, soul searching, heartache, joy, laughter and so much more. No this is not a suspense book but one that could happen in any of our lives. I definitely want to read other books by this author. This is absolutely one of the best books that I've ever read.

No one influenced my opinion nor review of this book. I did email the author that if I liked the book I would leave a review. Little did I know how much I would love this book. So glad it was a paperback book. This is definitely a keeper. A book I will proudly display on my bookshelf.
