5 of 5 Stars This was such a beautiful, well-crafted story. Mac, so overwhelmed with guilt and grief after the death of his son, goes off to Afghanistan. He tells his wife it's to pay for the bills after his son's death. But he hurts his wife by abandoning her and he doesn't know if she can forgive him for his part in his son's death. However, what Mac learns from his coworkers and from the Afghanistan people he meets begins to change his heart and his belief. His wife always relied on her faith, but he did not. The details about life in Afghanistan painted an image in my mind. So well done! I truly enjoyed this book.
