5 of 5 Stars The Patriot and The Loyalist is book 2 of the Hearts At War series by author Angela K Couch. The setting is South Carolina ~ 1780. Daniel Reid has enlisted in the Continental Army. Some things have changed since we read book 1: There are brick homes where Daniel was raised in a two-room cabin.
Wow! That about sums up this book. The series just keeps getting better and better. I enjoyed this novel which featured Colonel Francis Marion (Swamp fox) especially so since I lived in South Carolina. The novel also tore at my heartstrings keeping me reading and on the edge of my seat.
This novel can be read as a stand-alone. But to understand it even better it’s best to begin with book one. Also, Daniel and Lydia are polar opposites. Can romance blossom between the two? I recommend this novel to fans of Christian historical romance and anyone interested in the Swamp Fox.
