Carnations in January

(image for) 3 of 5 Stars3 of 5 Stars Carnations in January, written by Clare Revell, is a unique story. It’s setting is in a flower shop, hence the Carnations in the name of the book and the flower shop name of Carnation Street Florist. Grace has inherited her aunt’s flower shop and her home after her recent death. She’s been an accountant and decides she needs a new start so she takes on the shop and moves into her aunts home. Right from the start she meets Elliott, her neighbor and an Elder at the church where the funeral was for her aunt. He’s a sweet guy that seems to be around all of the time. Through his consistent testimony and kindness, she sees that her perception of Christians isn’t what It should be, but does she really want to trust a man and a Christian at that? I did think that the over all inspirational story was biblical and very encouraging.

I’m not exactly sure where this author is from, but it’s not the USA. The wording is very foreign sounding at times and even so much as to sound a bit confusing or off in the way that the story plays out. I enjoyed the story, but because of the probable difference in US English usage and wherever this author is from…I found it to be harder to enjoy as much as most books. I’m sure it was probably correct usage in the country that this author is from, but not so in USA.

I was gifted this book in exchange for my honest review.
