5 of 5 Stars Alexis misses her father at Christmas, who died only months before. Her family ran a contest every year during the town’s Christmas in the Village festival. Though grieving, she is determined to keep up the contest tradition. Jessie's sister set up a date for him with Alexis but it didn’t go well. He misses his wife who passed away but he also worries about raising his teenage daughter. He asks the Lord for strength on that matter. When his daughter wants to tell him something, she asks him not to make a federal case out of it, which is exactly what his wife would have said. His daughter wants to go on a date. He allows her to go but checks to make sure she's at the theater. When he stops at the contest drawing in town, he wins the prize with the key his daughter gave him. Alexis and Jessie get another chance to know each other. But they are both cautious. Neither of them wants to go through more anguish. This tender romance between two downcast souls is realistic and warm hearted. Jessie's daughter with her boyfriend Lon from Brooklyn is a nice touch, too. A sweet and delightful Christmas story.
