The Key to Christmas is a wonderful story of second chances. Alexis is mourning the loss of her father and feels like love has passed her by. She has an unexpected second chance (after a horrible first date) with Jessie, and somehow getting through Christmas doesn’t seem like such a daunting task. Jessie’s relationship with his teenage daughter is realistic and relatable. And Alexis still has her father’s best friend who looks out for her. I loved the different perspectives in the story. It was easy to relate to what was going on in the character’s minds. Even though this is a novella, the story was told in such a way that it was easy to get to know the characters and care about what would happen to them. I loved the Christmas tradition that Alexis’ mother started before she passed. Charlee Falls is the kind of place I’d like to visit at Christmas time!
