(image for) 5 of 5 Stars5 of 5 Stars See How They Hide picks up right where See How They Run ends. That said, there’s no way to create a review without spoilers. Still, even if you know the ending, you’ll find it worth reading to see how all the clues work together and the story unwinds. At the outset, it appears that the bomb explosion at the train overpass killed both Isabel and Boaz. We see Zander, Isabel’s partner, made Incident Commander and need to apply and enact major incident protocol to try and save as many people as possible from all portions of the destroyed scene: bridge, train, and road underneath. By chapter 2, we learn that Isabel is alive, but not well. Even so, she fights rescue efforts because she wants to do her part to help the injured and dying—not to mention track the bombers who did this. She also wants justice for Boaz who she sincerely believes dead. After all, a man in a rabbit costume carried her after she injured her ankle. And said rabbit costume on the bridge is missing its head. The Slayer in Run had given Isabel many clues about the bombers. Some she has read, others she put off because of dreading what Farrell (aka Slayer) might say to her. But now, they need every clue they can find and that means she can’t ignore these tidbits any longer. And she can’t delay because the hospital has given her limited time before she has to return for surgery. Nearly halfway through the book, we learn Boaz is very much alive. Someone, likely the Slayer, knocked him out before the marathon even began. Identifying the body of the decapitated rabbit confirms that Farrell is indeed deceased. That torment-filled portion of her life is over. She now also has Boaz’s skills and abilities to help find the bombers. If only these crazy accidents didn’t keep happening to her bruised and battered body. Eventually, all but one bomber is caught leading to a nailbiter of a finale. That’s one spoiler I won’t include!
