The author carefully developed the main character, Josephine, from a hesitant girl to a brave and determined woman as she endures hardships and struggles in caring for Geoff, a young WW1 veteran. The story takes place on an Alaskan island where Geoff is recovering from war injuries and escaping from the influenza pandemic. Josephine is asked to be his nurse and discovers she is a far stronger person than she thought. This book is easy to read, you won’t want to put it down!
