Readers’ hearts will melt when they meet the neglected boy, ten-year-old Kenny. Teeth will grind when readers meet Lily’s mean-spirited father and her awful brother. And readers will hold their breath when our beloved Lily, who longs for acceptance, opens up to Cam. A favorite paragraph: “He met Lily’s eyes, now open. They invited, challenged.
