Megan McCormick certainly hadn’t left Atlanta for the small mountain town of Laurel Crest looking for love. Far from it. She was running from her past and a broken heart when she was knocked over by the incredibly handsome veterinarian, Lee Grainger. Tired of the fast-paced life of the city, Lee is considering a permanent move to the mountains. His run-in with Megan has him believing he's there for more than a partnership in an animal hospital. After a case of mistaken identity is cleared up, Megan and Lee strike up a friendship. Lee is everything Megan ever wanted--smart, loyal and dedicated to his faith. But Megan has experienced deep betrayal twice. Can she come to terms with the secret that haunts her, get past her distrust of men and accept the love Lee offers?

When Megan bumped into Lee, she was not looking for happily-ever-after. She had written off men, marriage, and romance and wanted nothing to do with any of them. Lee, on the other hand, saw something worth pursuing in Megan but knew enough that he needed to proceed slowly lest he scare her off. This was a friends to lover story. Megan and Lee started out as friends but their relationship eventually became something more. Interspersed with the romance was also the story of Megan's conversion. Parts of this book felt like it was trying to be a romantic comedy but I didn't find it funny and the attempts at humor weren't consistent. I liked watching Megan make the connections between what had happened with her earthly father and her inability to trust God. I received an advanced reader's copy fro

Megan McCormick has moved to a new city to start a new life after an extreme betrayal of her trust that triggers harsh childhood memories. She's decided to write off all men. She's angry with YHWH for not protecting her from being hurt. Then she literally "falls" for Dr. Lee Grainger, a veterinarian who's newly arrived in her new city. This is a plotline that would seem to be a normal template for romance. Indeed, there is romance, but it's got a fresh set of twists, lots of humor and a legitimate way to see how YHWH loves and pursues us. Enjoyable read. Highly recommended. Thanks again, Sammie P

This book by Lesa Henderson was a very sweet Christian fiction - easy to read, and adventurous enough to keep you reading right up to the end! Also, I really appreciated the "devotional moment" at the end that tied the story with scripture! It's surely to be a help to those struggling. Thank you again, for letting me read this book Diane T
