When the tribal elders make marriage a requirement for claiming her land, Milcah bat Zelophehad must find a betrothed straightaway. The only problem in finding a husband is that all her suitors were slain while conquering the land of Canaan. Men avoid her in order to stay alive. After praying to God to send her a bold suitor, a man from her father’s clan plummets from a tree right on top of her. Is this God answering prayer or a foolish antic by Eli, the war-scarred brother from one of her clan’s rival families? Will settling in Canaan sort out Milcah’s troubles, or have her woes just begun?

Such a fulfilling ending to the daughters of Zelophehad series. Milcah’s story embraces a lost love and a newfound love in the most unexpected of persons, Eli. I followed the growth of both of these characters, unable to put the book down. Would she be able to let go of her past love, and would he be able to become the man she most needs? The strength of this series is all of the books have heroines with completely different story lines; however, they all share a profound belief in the One True God. Reading these books makes you want to go to the Bible and learn more. As for me, I’m returning to one of my favorite women of the Bible from my childhood, the Book of Esther, for additional inspiration. Anne P - PBG Booklover

My favorite Barbara Britton book so far! Claiming Canaan: Milcah’s Journey By Barbara M. Britton is the third book in The Daughters of Zelophehad series. For me, Barbara Britton saved the best story for last. Milcah is the only daughter to not have a marriage or engagement of marriage. Her previous suitors met an untimely death. Micah must endure the rumors that she may be a curse. She prays for God to provide a husband and he does, but not in the way she anticipated. The story unfolds taking many twists and turns. We get a glimpse of what it might have been like to be in the promised land! We are reminded that these sisters were orphaned and formed a bond that cannot be broken. The beautiful love story that unfolds allows us to witness the kind of transformation only God can bring. Milcah’s story is intriguing. Walking in faith is not simple. There are struggles and set backs after receiving land promised by God. Micah must have faith living as if she believes the promise

This one finishes the series wonderfully, and I just wish there were more. In order to inherit, Milcah has to marry within her own tribe... problem being all the eligible men are either dead or not to her taste. Eli literally lands in her lap, but is this God's will or a ruse by her tribe to grab her land? Another great read.
