What a wonderful, heartwarming story! The book opens in the present day, where Jillian and Tanner Holt find themselves in a difficult spot in their marriage. Not a typical boy-meets-girl type of romance, but real life isn’t always tied up in a perfect bow. The author then takes us back to the beginning of their love story, and we fall in love along with the characters. They meet at the Lodge on Christmas Lake, a magical place I wish I could visit. Both are people of faith, and the faith message is woven throughout the story. But even people who love the Lord and love one another struggle in their marriages, especially when stressed with outside events. In this case, Tanner’s relationship with and the subsequent death of his brother cause him to pull away. Both Jillian and Tanner have special people in their lives who give them good counsel, and Jillian returns to the Lodge at Christmas Lake to seek comfort from her dear friends.
