When Violet Noble begins her new job as council events planner in Winkfield Green, she’s horrified to learn she has twenty days to organize the, as yet unplanned, Christmas Fayre—and it won't be easy. All the files regarding previous events have disappeared, along with most of the decorations. She needs a miracle, but what she gets instead the council’s maintenance man, carpenter and all-around fix-it guy—Derek Xenon.
When Violet turns to Derek for help with the Christmas Fayre, his first instinct is to say no. His regular job is demanding enough without adding the resident damsel in distress to his workload. However, he’s never one to turn down a challenge—even one from Christmas obsessed out-of-towner, and especially when someone seems to want Violet's plans to fail.
Will Violet’s vision of Christmas ever come to fruition, or will she throw in the stocking?
On her way to her new job as an event planner for the town of Winkfield Green, Violet Noble gets stuck in construction traffic, making her late for her first day. And from there, can anything else go wrong? Absolutely everything. From someone trying to undermine her plans for the town Christmas fayre, to someone trying to kill her. One bright spot is Derek Xenon, the carpenter-handyman-hunk. Even though he does, to Violet’s dismay, wear his baseball cap backwards. This novel bears the classic mixture of mystery and humor one expects from a Clare Revell novel. And it was good to see some of the characters from her previous novels make reappearances. A fun holiday read.
Underneath the Christmas Tree starts off innocently, with Violet Noble starting a new event planning job. Her first task is to plan the Christmas fayre for the town. But everything starts going wrong, and it turns out someone isn’t too happy with having her in town. Soon the mishaps turn dangerous. Fortunately, she finds a compatriot in the local handyman, Derek, and before long, the two of them are working together both to save Christmas for the town and to try to find who wants to stop them. It’s full of suspense, mystery, friendship, and romance with well-written characters and a page-turning storyline.
