I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Angela Taylor applied for the assistant principal position at the school where she worked, but was turned down so she applied at another school. Adam Thornton was injured while on a mission trip when he was young, and still suffers from the after effects. His mother is the principal at the school where she now works. The plot of this novella features choosing to overcome heartache. A great story full of faith.
Set the tone for a very merry holiday season by reading “Choosing Christmas” by Carol James. Readers will connect very easily to the characters the author has created. Angie and Adam, the heroine and hero of this warm and redemptive Christmas romance, are well developed and realistic. Both characters bear scars from incidents that happened earlier in their lives. Some scars are visible, such as those that Adam lives with. And some scars are not so obvious, like Angie‘s emotional trauma from her mother’s rejection. In this novella, both characters discover that their faith will guide them to the path God has for their lives. The path isn’t always what they are expecting, or hoping for, but through faith and trust in God they find the true purpose of their lives. Choosing Christmas by Carol James is a tender romantic Christmas story. The attraction between Angie and Adam is tangible but handled with deftness and sensitivity by the author. Scriptures and the message of choosing joy is woven into the story in such a way that it never comes across as preachy but truly as part of the story and the character's lives. Definitely a wonderful Christmas read! Looking forward to reading more from Carol James.
