After losing her job and breaking up with her boyfriend, Lauren escapes to her family’s mountain cabin to spend a simple Christmas alone with God. When a stranger crashes into a tree on her property, her quiet time is shattered.
All Justin wants is a weekend in the mountains with his friend, but an unexpected accident leaves him in Lauren’s care. He’s not interested in Christmas or God, but will he change his tune after meeting Lauren?
At the heart of this sweet holiday romance is the very essence of Christmas: salvation. I wish the plot/characters could have been spun out a little more—but with a novella, there are limits. Lots of layers and family drama added to the mix. A wonderful holiday read.
As the old saying goes, “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry…” I enjoyed this sweet story of a man and a woman who thought they had their Christmas holidays all planned out, only to find that God had something else in mind. I loved how the author took two people whose lives were heading opposite directions and brought them together in a most unexpected way.
Justin’s been running from God for years, but when a snowstorm causes his car to slide off the road and hit a tree, he’s sure the woman who helps him must be an angel. Lauren had intended to spend a quiet Christmas at her family’s cabin, but when Justin’s car ends up in her yard, she takes him in and nurses him back to health.
This is a perfect story for the Christmas season. It reminds me of a weaving together of the stories of the Good Samaritan and the first Christmas. A nice read to snuggle up with in front of the fire, a cup of hot cocoa in hand.
If you’re going to have a Christmas accident, who better to save you than a nurse? On his way to a friend’s cabin in the Poconos, Justin awakens to the aroma of cooking smells. He’s convinced she’s a blond angel when Lauren prays over their simple meal. Off the grid during a snowstorm, the couple settle in to weather the storm.
Lauren sees at once that Justin is there with her so she can share God’s love for all mankind. A lovely, satisfying, and warm Christmas story for any reader’s cold winter’s night.
