Megan McCormick certainly hadn’t left Atlanta for the small mountain town of Laurel Crest looking for love. Far from it. She was running from her past and a broken heart when she was knocked over by the incredibly handsome veterinarian, Lee Grainger. Tired of the fast-paced life of the city, Lee is considering a permanent move to the mountains. His run-in with Megan has him believing he's there for more than a partnership in an animal hospital. After a case of mistaken identity is cleared up, Megan and Lee strike up a friendship. Lee is everything Megan ever wanted--smart, loyal and dedicated to his faith. But Megan has experienced deep betrayal twice. Can she come to terms with the secret that haunts her, get past her distrust of men and accept the love Lee offers?

I liked this book a lot for several reasons. Although initially disheartened by the first few paragraphs, which seemed a little too sticky-sweet, the writer went on to develop a well-written story with relatable characters. These characters had problems stemming from their need to know God's love and to have His guidance in their lives and these points were made naturally and gently. I appreciated that the spiritual content was appropriate, biblical, and in context for the story. For me, the test of a good story is whether I can picture the setting and feel comfortable with the characters. The setting for this book was drawn so well with words that I could practically hear the streams up in the hills. I did think that the more peripheral characters could have been developed a bit more in a longer book, and I would have like to hear more about Cameron and Ben so, maybe there will be a sequel? Altogether, a nice read for a winter's day. Warm regards, Ruth C - PBG Booklover

I just finished reading this book. It was awesome and it touched my heart. I would recommend that everyone read it because we can all connect with Megan. I connected with her and I still struggle with forgiveness. As I work toward reconnecting with my Lord and Savior, I still can't quite let go of the feelings of guilt and self doubt. This book and the scriptures are so wonderful because they gave me hope for my future. And a renewed conviction that God loves me no matter what and will never let me go. Thank you Lesa and Pelican Group. Lesa keep writing because you are bringing hope to everyone who reads your books. Carol M. - PBG Booklover
