When a woman Cutter rescued from a human trafficking ring, turns up in his barn fearing for her life, he can’t turn her away, but he needs help.
Halle Kennedy, the woman he’s loved since they met in elementary school, hears the story and immediately volunteers to stay in Cutter’s cabin with him and this woman until they can help her determine her next step and find her a safe haven.
He and Halle come together to teach this woman about God’s unconditional love and lead her to Jesus. The trafficking ring has tortured and killed and now these murderers are coming after her.
Cutter realizes he’s drawn a target around Jordan Valley and led the evildoers to the town of family and friends he loves so dearly. Will they be able to stop the evil men before anyone else gets hurt?
Jordan Valley Rescue is a striking contrast between good and evil when the horrors of human trafficking meet up with the good and caring people of small-town Jordan Valley. The topic, while unthinkable, is handled skillfully, with just enough detail to make your heart ache for the people trapped in such a life. Scripture is weaved seamlessly throughout the story, giving hope that there is a life after tragedy. While the topic is heavy, the book is not a difficult read. You find yourself immersed in the lives of the sweet small-town folk who are living their lives unstopping toilets, making chicken salad, and helping at the rodeo. But these godly people know there is no way to continue their safe, peaceful lives when unbearable evil exists in the world, and they won’t rest until they do what they can to help the young women who has stumbled into their lives. This book will inspire you to learn more about human trafficking and learn what you can do to help.
Poignant, fictionalized reality “Gypsy. We met in New Orleans last year. Remember?” And I was hooked! His heart dropped to his stomach as his mind flashed back … His understanding of life had been changed so radically that if he hadn’t been able to give it to God, he never would have slept another wink. To this day, his family claimed he’d run away from home. The reality of organized crime and objectifying humans is clear in this simple question, “Cutter boy, have you gotten yourself mixed up in human trafficking?” underlying the story is the hope of Cutter and Halle’s romance based on years of respect and friendship. Kudos to Ms. Spess for tackling this evil cloud that hovers too close to our young people, and even our babies. Slavery happens right under our noses, and only God’s people can pierce this darkness. This is a beautiful story of how even despicable sin can be forgiven. How God gives strength to fight for lives and pray that good overpowers the black of spiritual battles th
Another great read from Ms. Spress. Not an easy read at times, as it deals with human sex trafficking. But it has a lovely redemption angle to it, as well as a charming love story. Enjoyed it.
