After losing both her parents and her husband, Erin is determined to make a good life for herself and her young son. She starts a catering business with the help of her marketing wiz housemate, never dreaming she’ll ever find love again.

Everyone loves Rusty — as a friend. He’s quick with a joke and a helping hand. If only he could find his way out of the friend zone. The only thing he cares about more than Erin’s food is Erin herself.

When Erin finds herself in a dangerous situation, it’s Rusty who comes to her aid, on more than one occasion.

In this, the second book of the Chester County Couples series, follow Erin and Rusty through a near-death experience, a surprising secret from Erin’s parents’ past, a trip across the country, and more.

My first experience with Karen Malley’s writing was with Moonlight and Mystery. I fell in love with Jason and Beth and was completely engrossed in their love story. I was delighted to learn of a second Chester County Couples book, Recipes and Redemption and couldn’t wait to read it. I was not disappointed! The story picks up where “Moonlight” ended, shifting its focus to Jason’s sister, Erin and his best friend, Rusty. A redheaded history professor with a quick sense of humor, Rusty is every girl’s best friend, but never the boyfriend. He has always been secretly attracted to Erin, but feels that, like everyone else, she sees him only as a friend. So why is it that every time she needs a hero, Erin seems to turn to Rusty? The story is filled with many interesting surprises and scenarios that kept me turning the pages. I loved the tender relationship between Erin and her baby boy, Oliver and I particularly enjoyed the cooking scenes as Erin got her small catering business off the ground

In Recipes and Redemption, we get better acquainted with Erin, Jason's sister and Beth's housemate. (Jason and Beth are the couple in the previous book.) At 23, a widowed mom and a caterer, Erin is both more mature than average for her years and filled with youthful self-doubt. Even so, she's been on her own for a bit over a year as the story starts. Rusty, Jason's good friend and history professor at the local college, admires Erin from the get-go. But he's a nice guy and hasn't wanted to even hint at romance while she's still grieving her husband. However, he loves her cooking and as such sees her on a fairly regular basis. Erin's innocence and naivete start to get her into a bit of trouble. Fortunately, because of a joke about Rusty's easy-t0-remember phone number, she does exactly that and remembers how to contact him--and let him rescue her--when a dangerous mishap means she's left without her phone. Since this is a faith-based romance, you can see the hand of God in Erin's mishap
