Reading A Match for Melissa was like being transported back to the early 1800s. The author paints such a beautiful picture with words that I could envision the sights and sounds of the time period. The story unfolds quite naturally and comes to a satisfying conclusion. It's well-written and the story is engaging. I highly recommend this book. Irene Onorato
"A Match For Melissa" is enjoyable to read. It is clearly written and moves at an excellent pace. Susan Karsten engages the reader, drawing you into the story and transporting you back to the book's era in a way that enhances rather than detracts from the reading experience. Characters are introduced at appropriate times without overwhelming the reader. The characters are then developed throughout the book in a manner that fits the plot and flows from it. Karsten even includes an element of solving a mystery that help to round out the story and the characters. Another great aspect of the book is Susan Karsten's weaving the characters' spiritual attitudes, reasoning, and changes into the story. Rather than ignore these vital parts of being human, Karsten works them in, which enhances the book. Talman Wagenmaker
