After being betrayed and abandoned by everyone in her former high-class life, Nicole is left to find her way on her own. She finds God while living in a homeless mission and vows to separate herself from the “well-off” members of society.

Michael has known nothing but love and acceptance all his life, but when a series of fortunate investments lands him in the upper class, he has trouble finding a woman who cares for him more than his money.

As Nicole and Michael’s lives intertwine during the busy Christmas season and through a surprising connection to the mission, will they be able to shake the pain of their pasts and find happiness together?

Forgiveness and Second Chances If you love stories of forgiveness and second chances, you’ll enjoy Ms. Malley’s The Christmas Mission. Two people, Michael and Nicole, work in the same mall and meet when Michael comes to the store where Nicole works to get his daily smoothie. He asks her out on a date but is not entirely honest about who he is. A wealthy business owner, Michael is looking for someone who will love him for who he is, not what he has. And suffering from a painful past, Nicole is looking for someone who will love her in spite of her background. Everything seems to be headed in the right direction until Nicole’s father is released from prison and tracks her down. The Christmas Mission is a beautiful story of overcoming past mistakes and finding new life and redemption through God.

How did Karen Malley fit so much into 105 pages? Family, service, salvation, reconciliation, forgiveness, Christmas, romance…. I got invested in the main characters so quickly, not to mention the wonderful supporting cast. Sometimes I find myself getting confused over multiple characters, but not in this case. Karen Malley did it masterfully well. Years ago, I had the opportunity to do a lot of volunteering at places much like the one in this story and reading this made me determine to get back to it, now that my life has the room and time. The Christmas Mission is filled with all the quaint, feel-good sights and sounds of Christmas, right down to a popsicle-stick Nativity set that brought a lump to my throat. If you want to get in the Christmas spirit, this story will bless your soul and lift your heart, guaranteed!

“What a hero” was my first thought upon meeting Michael and his treatment toward Nicole. It’s clear from the start that Nicole’s heart lacked good memories. They both work at the mission on different days, Nicole tutors and Michael trains men as well as loaning suits for interviews. He is convinced she’s “the one.” She’s convinced a successful business owner such as Michael is, would never be interested once he knows her past. God works through the counsel of Nicole’s friend, and the romance is on despite snags. Lots of good living lessons in this story.
