4 Books that will Tickle Your Funny Bone

20 Jan, 2023

Don't you just love a book that can make you laugh, cry, and think...all in the same read? I know I do, and so do our editors. Pelican has a lot of great books that do just that, but here are four that really stand out in our minds. You'll enjoy them, too, I have no doubt!

Happy reading,
Nicola M, Editor-in-Chief at Pelican Book Group.

The Curious Prayer Life of Muriel Smith: In this story by Carol Raj, our lovely senior citizen, Muriel, is always praying for the things she thinks she lacks (not a bad idea, mind you), and then one day she gets carjacked by a young whippersnapper of a teenager, and the joy ride they go on together is both hilarious and thought-provoking...and it teaches Muriel and the boy a few things about life and prayer. ( Available in e-book, paperback, and at Audible)

Yellowstone Yondering: Bears, anyone? I kid you not. This is a lovely contemporary romance without the humour, but Kristen Joy Wilks has a knack for infusing "funny" into her stories. No wildlife was harmed in the writing of this tale, but after reading it, you might never be able to think of Yellowstone again without cracking a smile.

Protecting Annie: What happens when a 19th century. straitlaced schoolmarm picks up a tourist guide...written by men who've never set foot in The West...and proceeds to live her life based on the ignorant ramblings between those pages? Toss in a handsome sheriff, and you have a fantastic historical romance that will leave you breathless...from laughing.

Manila Marriage App: A contemporary marriage of convenience takes on an hilarious twist. When Shay decides to show everyone she's not an old maid just because she's nearing the ripe old age of thirty, she answers Timothy's ad for a wife. Actually, in her mind, she'll fly to the Philippines, enjoy an all-expenses-paid vacation from the doctor who's looking for a wife (using the most annoying application any woman has ever seen), and she'll teach him a thing or two about manners. Yes, hilarity ensues along with romance and an all-around warm-fuzzy that will leave you happy. Check it out!
