Woven into the passage are warning, instruction and hope.<br \/>\nIf we listen to the Lord, He will teach us how to use our gifts (in this<br \/>\n case, a well-trained tongue that can uplift the weary). But,<br \/>\ninvariably, when we are using our gifts to glorify God, we will be<br \/>\nridiculed and possibly even attacked. How are we to react to this? By<br \/>\nstanding strong, not turning away from God; by not seeking revenge; and<br \/>\nby peacefully accepting the \u201cconsequence\u201d of fulfilling His will without<br \/>\n regard for ourselves. <\/p>\n<p>In return for our faithfulness in honouring Him and the gifts He<br \/>\nsupplies, He will provide the vindication our flesh may want to seek for<br \/>\n ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s Pray: Lord, help me to acknowledge the gifts you have provided<br \/>\nthat are uniquely mine, and help me to share those gifts to Your Glory.<br \/>\nHelp me never to place my own well-being before You. Grant me the grace<br \/>\nto understand that, while living in the spirit goes against every fiber<br \/>\nof my flesh, it is no less than Jesus did, even unto death on a cross.<br \/>\nThank You for Your sacrifice that purchased for Me the ultimate gift of<br \/>\neverlasting life.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"tr_bq\"><p>\nThe Lord GOD has given me<br \/>\na well-trained tongue,<br \/>\nThat I might know how to speak to the weary<br \/>\na word that will rouse them.<br \/>\nMorning after morning<br \/>\nhe opens my ear that I may hear;<br \/>\nAnd I have not rebelled,<br \/>\nhave not turned back.<br \/>\nI gave my back to those who beat me,<br \/>\nmy cheeks to those who plucked my beard;<br \/>\nMy face I did not shield<br \/>\nfrom buffets and spitting.<\/p>\n<p>The Lord GOD is my help,<br \/>\ntherefore I am not disgraced;<br \/>\nI have set my face like flint,<br \/>\nknowing that I shall not be put to shame.<br \/>\nHe is near who upholds my right;<br \/>\nif anyone wishes to oppose me,<br \/>\nlet us appear together.<br \/>\nWho disputes my right?<br \/>\nLet him confront me.<br \/>\nSee, the Lord GOD is my help;<br \/>\nwho will prove me wrong?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Isaiah 50:4-9 is a beautiful example of how we are to be good servants of the Lord.
