\n\tAlthough its true origin is shrouded in mystery due to various renditions, the song, O Come, O Come, Emmanuel<\/em> in its current form is dated to 1710 or thereabouts. A hymn of Advent, it is attached to the Magnificat <\/em>at Vespers, for the final days of the Christmas season (December 17 – 23). The tune developed separately from the words, coming from 15th<\/sup> century France.\n<\/p>\n \n\tThe song is sometimes referred to as the O Antiphons<\/em> because each verse begins with the interjection<\/span><\/a> "O".
