I’m beginning to think it would be possible to write a single, glowing review for one of Mary Manners’ books, and then just replace the title each time she writes a new one. Manners simply never disappoints! BLACKBERRY RIDGE is a beautiful story of love revived and reclaimed after years of festering misunderstanding, hidden hurt and carefully guarded pain. Even if I weren’t aware of Mary’s “other” occupation, I’d know it had something to do with children. Her portrayals of children are always endearing, and always right on target. Chloe’s niece and Connor’s nephew are perfectly depicted, and are such a huge part of what makes this story real and true-to-life. I felt Chloe’s deeply ingrained hurt at Connor’s behavior years earlier. I sympathized with Connor’s predicament at the time, and so admired his ability to accept that God was ready for him to let go of yesterday and accept the new opportunity to make something beautiful of the attraction between himself and Chloe. Can I just say that I absolutely loved BLACKBERRY RIDGE?
