dorahiers@msn.com (Tuesday, 23 July 2013) Rating: 5 My summary~ After a ruthless drug smuggler inflicts horrendous damage to Undercover DEA Agent Gage McKenna's leg, Gage retreats to a remote barrier reef island off the North Carolina coast to heal and lick his wounds. Weary of her boring life, Librarian Cara Dalton does something unusual and spontaneously follows her brother, Jonas, to Columbia. Seeking an adventure, she stumbles onto a chance encounter with Mercado, a drug dealer. The last thing she expects is to be hauled off to a remote coast guard station to be held under lock and key by Jonas's surly friend, Gage. What I liked... Most of the setting took place on a former coast guard station on the island. The author really made the setting come alive for me. I could almost feel the salt air kissing my cheeks and the sand tickling my bare feet. The characters were so life-like and relatable. Surly and grumpy at first because of the pain, Sage was also g

This is a delightfully- suspenseful thriller about a librarian who decides for once in her ordinary life to have an adventure and do something worthwhile. This leads her to follow her twin brother to Columbia and join him on what she thought was a mission trip. Instead, her structured life will never be the same. She stumbles onto a dangerous, volatile situation and ends up in the protection of her brother’s horribly- wounded friend, Gage, back in the U.S. Between real threats to her life, worry about her brother still active and in great danger in Colombia, and her rollercoaster feelings about her protector, there is plenty of action to keep the reader anxious to see what happens next. There is a clear Christian message presented naturally as the characters face danger and seek wisdom and protection. Gage must struggle with his faith in light of his injuries and desire for revenge. All in all, the book is a great adventure filled with peril and romance and redemption. I loved the endi

This is my first book by Wendy Davy but it will not be my last. Cara Dalton decides that as a town librarian her life is pretty boring. She longs to help people. She wants to do something that will be remarkable. Believing her twin brother, Jonas, is a missionary, she follows him to Columbia. Just after arriving, Cara stumbles into the wrong place. Barely getting out of Columbia, Jonas stashes Cara with his ex-partner, Gage, for protection. Now Cara must face not only the fear for her life but fear for her brother and her growing feelings for Gage. Meanwhile, Gage must deal with healing from injuries received from the same man after Cara. He must also face his growing admiration for his best friend's sister. Will they be able to stay alive and put away a drug mogul? Or will their fears overtake them? There is a Christian message wove throughout the novel as Gage must come to terms about how God could have allowed his injuries to occur. Also, the characters are well defined. As a rea
